SwitchIt - Reserve yours now
The NEW SwitchItTM $895.00 Reserve yours now with an initial deposit of $200
Attention BikeFit Pros- please contact us for your additional discount.
Wondering what all the hype is? Here is a video
And here’s the latest from a happy user:
Yesterday I shopped at Bikesport for a new bike seat. The salesperson was Cameron and did an excellent job. She took the time to show me several seats and to place them on a bike for me to sit on. When we came close to a decision I asked to go back and forth between a couple of seats several times. What made this so easy for Cameron and for me was that Bikesport had the quick seat installer that I understand that you have developed. What we did in a few minutes would have taken much longer, been a pain for Cameron and would likely have resulted in me making a decision that I would not have been comfortable with.
Great job by Cameron, Bikesport and you folks for the quick install product. Thank you,

Stance width – more wider pedals on the way????
Check out this link
Even the pros are realizing that wider may be better. Actually stance width is an individual thing but the more cyclists are exposed to proper bike fit and manufactures supply the proper equipment – “wider” is here and it is growing.
Some of our recent numbers support that at least half of the pedals on a bike should be a different length and that is probably a low estimate/finding. Today actually getting the different length pedals may be another story but one day that will not be an issue. Eventually different length spindles will be common place and not just found at a few select Speedplay dealers. Going out on a limb I would say this spindle length choice will become expected in bike sizing….that means even before the actual bike fit.
Mention this blog and receive $20 off an order of two lasers with knee dot straps – lasers are the best way to assess and address proper stance width. This offer is good for one week starting today.

Old Country ways - Episode 2
Last Friday, May 6th I was visiting a retailer near Varese, Italy when a group of cyclists comes into the store and one of them asks for a new saddle. He asks the store owner which one was his favorite carbon saddle because his old saddle was not comfortable, the owner pointed to a nice and expensive carbon saddle, the guy said ok and he purchases it on the spot because the owner liked the saddle. The saddle gets installed and off they went to continue their ride. Never once did the owner of he shop see the old saddle before the bike was brought into the store to have the saddle changed after the saddle was paid for.
I can't wait to start seeing more SwitchIt Saddle Changer available in stores around the globe!

Old Country ways - Episode 1
I was just in Italy this past Thursday and Friday visiting dealers and on Thursday I stumbled across a fitter doing a fit. I stood back and looked at the person being fitted and the fitter doing his job. After a few minutes of watching the fitter do his thing and never asking once to the customer how he was feeling, I politely asked if I could do something. I went out the the car, brought in my bike fit case, took out the lasers and wow, the fitter could not have been further away from going in the right direction. The interaction between the two went something like this ...
C - When I pedal my right leg hurts as its about 1.5cm shorter
F - No problem, let me see your shoe and let me make some adjustments
C - I am not sure, this feels different but I will grow into the sensation
F - It will take you a while to feel the improvements in your pedal stroke
C - ok, I will let you know how I feel the next few times I go riding
... then out came the lasers (after I asked if I could show something)
ME - Do you mind if I adjust your right shoe?
C - Ok, what are you going to do to it?
ME - I am going to add a 3mm spacer if this is ok with the fitter
C&F - OK
ME - I install a 3mm Keo LLS and add a varus wedge and move the cleat all the way out
C - This feel great, I feel the pedal and almost all the pressure on the outside of the foot has gone.
ME - Enjoy your ride
Last month when visiting another shop in Italy, a customer purchasing an extremely nice Pinarello Dogma was having cleats put on his shoes. How were they installed? The sales person asked the mechanic to install the cleats; a caliper comes out of a drawer, the shoe width is measured, the cleat is placed all the way forward and right smack centered in the middle of the shoe. I wonder how his first ride felt ...

Riding someone else's wheel
OK I was a great wheel sucker but I won a lot of races. So I draft into this one.
Steve Hogg on Speedplay check out this link...... but does he mention BikeFit cleat wedges are included in the Pro Fit Case....? Read for yourself and see.

And is that Specialized getting some props here...... ;-) To be honest I never have an issues with Specialized shoes. In fact most of their products I like.
Swifty - being lazy and sucking a wheel
But in all seriousness check out Hogg's blog - read and learn!

Another indicator of an uneven connection to the bike.
Keep in mind viewing someone dynamically only, no matter what system is used or how expensive it is, you might not see any indicators of this uneven wear at the foot. You need to also assess the foot off the bike and of course examine the equipment – insole, cleat and/or pedal.

TriFit LA 3 Bike Fits – April 9 & 10, 2011
Erik
Left 4 degrees varus 1 VV1
Right 6 degrees varus 1VV1 & 1 CW
3 degrees of External Wedges - Wider left stance
Kris
Left 0 nuetral 1 CWs -1/8 short spindle
Right 2 degrees varus 2 CWs -1/8 short spindle
3 CWs - Superfeet
Steve
Left 8 degrees varus 3 CWs 1/2 longer spindle
Right 13 degrees varus 3 CWs 1/2 longer spindle
6 CWs - Wider left stance
Total wedges installed = 12 (all varus, 10 CWs & 2 VV1s).
Average number of wedges per person was 4. This is just below the typical average of wedges used in good bike fits.
No one preferred the ITS wedges. We suggest trying both solutions for several fits (probably all fits) and you will be able to see that Cleat Wedges will be the preferred choice by far.
2 of the fits displayed wider left stance width.
Out of 6 feet (3 people) only 2 feet fit on standard width pedals.

CYoga - New Yoga Cycling Class
The secret is out that the Yoga industry is gaining a new leader brought on to help launch new/old traditional Yoga concept called CYoga. The concept hopes to revive the idea that Yoga cannot be done without successfully first riding your bike. Insiders say Yoga has a long tradition of supporting the “Bicycle Poses.” These poses were all but forgotten and almost lost into eternity except by the purist of CYogaMasterPros. The “Bicycle Poses” or sometimes called the “Cycling Poses” have been around since pre-bicycle conception and is believed to perhaps be the initial inspiration into the bicycle itself. New archives show the Wright brothers and also an old Asian Buddhist practiced a sundry of traditional poses which reflected that of riding a bicycle.
A one hour class of “Cyoga” is almost all cycling and little to nothing is done on the floor or even off the bike like the Yoga most people practice today. Many modern Yogists dismiss the concept as an old Wives Tale and say the mirage of Cycling Poses are silly and have nothing to do with the real tradition of Yoga.
Rumor has it the largest Yoga teaching school is on board with the CYoga concept and will be begin teaching its practitioners Worldwide mid - 2011. This attempt is a response to failed revivals FitYogaRight and a partnership with Euro’s BioYogaRacer.
Insiders say the new leader has always felt Yoga is actually cycling and is finally going to prove it to the Yoga world. However, when interviewing one local Yogist whose name he would not divulge felt if he were playing baseball this would be strike 3 for the large Yoga Company.
Our first attempt in a class did not go so well when practicing the Downward Cycling Dog pose as one of the Yogi Pros in training smashed his nose on the stem resulting in a stream of blood running down his face.

It is easy to make the side view look good but does it have a solid foundation? Here is typical photo of a BikeFit Pro student working on the foundation. The face belongs to Bill Elkins from the Florida Keys.
