Foot/Pedal Day at F.I.S.T

6 cleat fits – Slowtwich compound January 13, 2010
We noted degree of fore foot tilt and then how many wedges were used.
This time we also listed the type of shoe.
Total wedges installed = 18 (17 varus and 1 valgus)

Do you use a similar amount of wedges? If not do you know why?

  1. Paul - Noticed that Fernando wore Shimano shoes and still fit into the same range for correction with wedges as Tony with Time shoes. Were the Shimano's new enough to have the varus correction in built into the sole and if so, what effect do you think it truly had on helping correct his fit prior to your assessment?

  2. You mention Time and Shimano shoes – I was not aware that one of these had tilt built into the shoe. Remember we also check dynamically and consider how they feel so just because we measure the tilt, we may add more wedges in consideration of these other factors (over ride the tool). For example almost all Specialized BG shoes, which say they have a built in varus, we almost always use the same number of wedges as any other shoe.
